Bosnian
Upper Drina River Canton Gorazde is situated in the South
East of Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are three municipalities:
Gorazde, Foca - Ustikolina, and Pale - Praca within the Canton.
Gorazde is the administrative, political, economic, educational
and cultural centre of the Canton.
Favourable geographical location, climate with mild weather,
fertile soil, and natural resources of the forests had been
the precondition for the people to settle down long time ago.
There are evidences of a prehistoric life in this area, the
archaeological excavated objects confirming the existence
of the Stone Age settlements. |

Numerous Middle Age monuments are the tombstones
erected some of them isolated others in a group.
Bosnian Upper Drina Canton Gorazde has always been on the
crossroads connecting the East and West, the valley
of the Drina River has been the main traffic artery in the
eastern Bosnia.
The motorways linking this area with the Croatian seaside
and the Monte Negro seaside are very suitable. In addition,
there are very good route connections to Sarajevo and other
parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
